Negative Pressure Contains Mold Damage During Remediation In Ponce Inlet Properties

Mold Damage Remediation

During the mold remediation process in a home in Ponce Inlet, we take specific measures to protect the other areas of the house that do not contain overgrown regions of microbes. One of these techniques involves the use of negative air pressure. Hospitals and other healthcare facilities use this same method to contain pathogens to specific areas, keeping other locations in their buildings protected.

When SERVPRO remediates a residence in Ponce Inlet of mold damage and other microbial destruction, we make sure we use all the techniques available to stop the spread of microbes before, during, and after. Microbes do not require much moisture to grow out of control, so keeping it from spreading minimizes the chances of mold damage occurring in other locations inside your home. Even if you have moisture levels under control in other areas of your home, the release of spores can cause health effects.

To set up negative air pressure around the area that needs remediation, we use thick but clear vinyl sheeting around the area, completely enclosing it off from the rest of your home. We use an open window to exhaust the air in the room to the outdoors. This requires tubing attached to an air scrubber, pulling the air out of the place and forcing it outside. While air from the rest of your home might enter through tiny cracks here and there within the area we work in; this air cannot double back and take contamination to its original location.

After we finish removing and bagging up moldy materials, we can then take down the negative air pressure set up. However, many times we let the air scrubber run a little while longer, to also remove dust from the air that may still float around.

SERVPRO of South Daytona Beach / Port Orange wants to provide your family with a newly remediated home, so any problems with mold damage no longer exist. Contact us at (386) 788-0358 to see how we can protect your Harbor Oaks or Allandale home from future problems with overactive microbes.
