Commercial Water Damage Technicians In Daytona Discuss Problems With Elevated Humidity Levels
If a water leak ever takes place at your Daytona manufacturing plant, prompt mitigation is necessary to reduce the severity of the problems. The commercial water damage that is created directly by water contact is considered a primary issue. Once water stays inside a structure, the humidity levels increase inside. Moisture that is present in the air can then cause problems with building materials that did not initially get wet. Any commercial water damage that results from vapor in the air is considered to be a secondary problem.
Any time our SERVPRO restoration team responds to an emergency call, we take steps to reduce the number of secondary issues that occur. If mitigation happens quickly during your commercial water damage project in Daytona, secondary problems may not take place. The first step to the process is to extract as much water from materials like carpet and upholstery as possible. The quicker standing water and moisture present within porous materials get removed, the less the humidity inside the building rises.
After we complete the extraction phase, we begin the rapid structural drying process. When water leaks inside your manufacturing plant, many of the building materials such as the drywall and possibly ceiling tiles can retain moisture. The goal during the rapid structural drying stage is to create an environment that speeds up the natural evaporation process.
In some areas, the humidity outside is low, and the air from the outdoors can be used to speed up the drying process. However, in most cases, our SERVPRO technicians choose to utilize a closed drying system that seals the affected area off from the outside environment. This way we can better control the atmosphere in the affected area and speed up the natural evaporation process.
To do this, we set up a combination of air movers and dehumidification systems. The air movers create circulation that pushes wet air away from damp surfaces. The dehumidifiers then remove moisture from the air, thus lowering the relative humidity level.
