Basements are usually the more straightforward task. As long as the utility room is safe for our technicians, we can pump out any standing water within a few hours. More difficult is drawing out water and trapped moisture from carpets. The task is less complicated than in a private residence since hotel carpeting rarely has a carpet pad underneath. The process takes longer, of course, due to the vast number of rooms and hallways compared to a house. SERVPRO teams begin by opening every door and window in as many rooms and halls as possible. Then, we install box fans to bring in dry, outside air to replace the colder, damp air drawn out by exhaust fans at crucial exit points.

Next, we use extraction wands to lift water from the carpet. These devices are designed to remove water without harming the individual threads of the nape. Technicians inspect each carpet for damage and other signs that water may have gotten underneath them. If necessary, we use space heaters and dehumidifiers to augment the wands and speed up the process by carefully drying the carpet and remove moisture directly from the surrounding air.
